Big projects sometimes begin very unassumingly. In our case, it was a meeting with partners in a wine cellar in January 2024, where we first heard from architect Ottmar Daněk about the upcoming project for KIA Czech. That’s where the story of our shared journey began.

"The brief was clear — preserve the existing furniture, but infuse the interior with colour, comfort and a modern touch. And we knew that was exactly the kind of challenge for us,” recalls Antonín Pelánek, Sales Manager at RIM CZ.

Challenge:BlendtheOldwiththeNewandSupporttheBrandsUpdatedVisualIdentity

The interiors of KIA Czech’s original Prague headquarters no longer met the current corporate standards. Instead of the previous gray tones, the space was to be refreshed with black, white, yellow and green — the colours used in KIA’s new visual identity.

“A key requirement from the client was to partially preserve the existing furniture — work desks and storage in the open-plan office. In addition, design a new meeting room next to the reception and create a space with various flexible seating options,” explains Ing. Aneta Pavlíková from Daněk Design, who supervised the entire project.

Solution:ColoursThatUniteandVersatilityThatLiberates

“Because we needed to incorporate KIA’s corporate colours, RIM was accommodating and we could select upholstery beyond the standard range,” says Ms. Pavlíková. “Since we had to respect the existing gray furniture, we decided to introduce colour through designer seating furniture.”

A pivotal moment in the design process was choosing the Nairobi fabric. Its textured surface and wide range of shades make it one of our customers’ long-time favourites — and here it beautifully highlighted both vibrancy and comfort. Equally crucial was the client’s decision to choose non-standard Prince leather shades for the Ca-Va armchairs, which we were able to provide beyond our regular offer. At the same time, we dealt with atypical Witty table dimensions and custom chair bases, requiring close coordination. This detail-tuning process — from colours and proportions to structural solutions — continued until September, when finalisation and ordering took place.

We relied on acombination of soft-seating collections and smart table solutions. The basis were models from the Ca-Va, Organix, Witty, Lambda, Tania, Stones and Tea collections. Each collection had its place and purpose:

  • Tania armchairs in yellow and green shades energised the executive offices.
  • Ca-Va and Tea models in Prince leather brought elegance and comfort to the meeting rooms.
  • Organix seating sets, including the Privacy collection with a high back panel and additional Stones organic stools, were installed in relaxation and hybrid zones.
  • In the canteen, the practical Lambda chairs in muted tones were paired with white Witty tables with wooden elements.

The entire project, from the first concept to the final installation, took approximately nine months. Despite its scale — dozens of furniture pieces in various types and colours — the implementation was completed in a single day.

“It was great to see how everything gradually came together. Seeing our products in such representative spaces, where they will serve the KIA Czech team daily — that’s a great reward for us,” adds Sales Manager Antonín Pelánek.

WhyRIM?

“We chose RIM because of our long term cooperation, their wide offer of modern products and design, plus fast communication, reliable service, and most importantly their ability to address non standard demands — whether on dimensions or colours.”

KeyTakeawaysfromThisProject

  • Great collaboration is based on trust, flexibility and open communication.
  • Furniture can change the atmosphere of a space without disrupting its functional basis.
  • An individual approach and willingness to explore unconventional solutions are often the key to an outstanding outcome.

This project confirmed for us that our strategy — combining design, versatility and a personal approach — makes sense. And that even a story that starts over a few glasses of wine can end in an interior that thrives with every detail.
